RC Layout technology allows Varel design engineers to develop and fully optimize a roller cone cutting structure and bearing design for a specific application. Information generated within RC Layout is then delivered to Varel’s advanced modeling roller cone software drilling package for further refining.

Parts are easily entered in RC Layout allowing the engineer to custom design parts as needed. This gives the engineer full control of the cutting structure and bearing package parts to create the optimum design for the application. All opportunities with the design are explored with standards and best practices kept in the forefront of the design stream to help construct a solidly designed bit.

The engineer will make the hard choices of the design and promote them to the finished design in RC Layout. With the design being completed, tooth spacing, overlap, interference, and minimum section between cutters and bearing parts have checked. The next step is to enlist Spot RC. The Spot RC Package will virtually run the design in the application. If the bit proves to be the best design it will be manufactured and delivered to the customer.
