SPOT is the Varel PDC drillbit design software. It allows bit engineers to optimize their cutting structure by maximizing bit efficiency and durability according to real operating conditions.

SPOT helps bit designers to design the optimal 3D cutting structure for a given application based on given:

  • drilling parameters
  • rock properties
  • diamond and carbide properties

SPOT can play a variety of simulation scenarios either based on standard parameters or based on real lithology as estimated by GeoScience. Application engineers can then easily interpret data based on synthetic dashboards focusing on one of the following:

  • lateral stability
  • bit durability
  • bit performance
  • bit aggressiveness

When plugged into GeoScience, SPOT can deliver simulation results in the form of drilling logs which can be compared to field data if available.

SPOT bit designs also serve as an input for DIG-IT and VIBES software to conduct in-depth analysis.

Once the SPOT bit design has been fully optimized and validated, it can be directly impoted in our CAD software.
